1 Peter 5:8 (NIV)

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

Psalm 118:8-14 (NIV)

8 It is better to take refuge in the Lord
than to trust in humans.
9 It is better to take refuge in the Lord
than to trust in princes.
10 All the nations surrounded me,
but in the name of the Lord I cut them down.
11 They surrounded me on every side,
but in the name of the Lord I cut them down.
12 They swarmed around me like bees,
but they were consumed as quickly as burning thorns;
in the name of the Lord I cut them down.
13 I was pushed back and about to fall,
but the Lord helped me.
14 The Lord is my strength and my defense;
he has become my salvation.

What have we done to our world? What has humanity wrought upon itself in the form of terrible calamities?

Look around…terror is raining down upon the Middle East and it is potentially coming to America once again.

There is no leadership, no plan, no knights in shining armor.

Satan is cut loose and prowling around like a roaring lion in terrorist clothing.

At this very moment in human history there is no greater example of the utter failure of trusting in humans than what is right before our eyes. Evil people and evil nations are swarming about like angry bees in the world created by God but failed by humans who were entrusted with its care.

It appears by all counts in humanity’s line items and balance sheet to be out of control and how do you bring accountability and order to chaos on a world scale?

You don’t.

God is in control.

In times like these when you are pushed back and about to fall you put on the armor of God and grab the sword of the spirit and let the God of the universe guide you to cut down evil and consume it like burning thorns.

In a world gone mad The Lord is our strength, defense and salvation against the devil and his human minions.

It is in a world of darkness, irrationality, derangement and hysteria that you must “trust in The Lord with all your heart and lean not on you own understanding” (Proverbs 3:5) and know everything occurring around you is part of His Master Plan.

We must never underestimate the plan or power of God. Our ways are not His ways or His thoughts our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8).

Heed the words of God in times of personal trials and world upheavals; He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” (Psalm 46:10 NIV).

The Sword of the Spirit, the Armor of God; light in the darkness, shield from evil, peace in knowing His plan is in motion and the outcome under His complete control and will.

Rest in confidence, fear no evil even in the darkest valley of the shadow of death for God’s rod and God’s staff will comfort us and protect us (Psalm 23:4).

What about you, are you afraid of the worlds turmoils now or are you grounded in the confidence that God is truly in control? I’d love your feedback in the comment section below.
