The Fallacy Of Religion

The Fallacy Of Religion

© By Brad L Hodges (except portions noted below)

Let me make a simple and clear statement: “Religion” is a fallacy.

What humanity chooses to gather together under manmade organizations like Mormonism (LDS), Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Christian Science or any other groups organized into a system of beliefs under a banner of “Religion,” “amount to a hill of beans.”

All the rituals, deviations of any kind from anything other than what is written in the Word of God, The Bible, becomes apostasy of God’s Word.

“Religion” was created by man and that is why it is a fallacy.

More pain, suffering, destruction, division and condemnation has been brought on humanity under the guise of “Religion” than any other force on earth.

While “Christianity” is lumped into what are tagged by man as one of the world “religions,” that too is a fallacy. Mankind has filled even “Christianity” with systems of rituals and false doctrines. In its purest form Christianity is based solely on Gods own Word, The Bible, taken in aggregate.

As I cannot illustrate these opening points any better, I am providing a quote here from an outstanding piece (which I would highly encourage you to read in its entirety) titled “What About Other Religions?” taken from: http://www.bibleevidences.com/other_rlgns.htm. Please note this is in no way to be considered a part of the rest of my copyrighted article here and is included as reference only with original copyright attributed to the authors of the original article:

“Comparing World Religions

The first thing we should do is determine how the major religions of the world differ from each other, and to ascertain whether these differences are bridgeable. Christianity is based on the Triune God of the Bible – the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and particularly the life of the Son, Jesus Christ. All other religions are based on the writings of men and not the life of any particular individual. Judaism, the sister religion to Christianity, is based on the Old Testament of the Bible, rejecting the entire New Testament and holding that the Messiah has not yet come. Islam is based on the writings of Muhammad, where they worship a single, impersonal god. Mormonism is based on the writings of Joseph Smith, where they deny the eternal divinity of Jesus, believe in many gods, and believe men can attain godhood (as their Jesus and Father did) and rule over their own planet. The Eastern religions, including Hinduism and Buddhism, and Western new-age religions such as Christian Science essentially believe everything is god (Pantheism – may the force be with you). These religions also teach reincarnation until the spirit reaches a level of “enlightenment” and oneness with god or the gods. Christianity teaches one death and one judgment (Hebrews 9:27).

Christianity is also the only religion that recognizes the hopeless gap between man and a Holy and Righteous God, teaching that salvation can only be obtained through God’s grace. All other religions teach that salvation can be achieved through human effort.”

Continuing with my article, in other words; there is one and only one, way to ensure eternity; that is by accepting Jesus Christ as your personal savior, period.

John 14:6 (NIV)
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

This is solely by the Grace of God, the one and only God of the universe who bridged the gap of broken mankind who had chosen by the free will granted by God, to reject Him. He accomplished this by becoming man in the form of Jesus Christ and offering a way back to reconciliation with Him by sacrificing Himself on the cross for redemption to all who freely accept His sacrifice and Grace.

John 3:16 (NIV)
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

This truth cuts through all “Religion” and its associated manmade rituals and completely sidebar beliefs.

The legalism and ritualism of religion is nothing but a barrier to reaching the eternal love that God has to offer broken humanity. God has provided a simple, clean and straight way to entering eternity with Him through Jesus Christ.

You do not have to associated with any form or organization of “Religion” to accept Christ as your personal savior and spend eternity with God.

There is a Biblical path to accepting Jesus Christ and guaranteeing eternity with God known as the “Romans Road to Salvation” because it is taken from the book of Romans in the Bible.

Romans Road Clearly Defines:
1. Who needs salvation.
2. Why we need salvation.
3. How God provides salvation.
4. How we receive salvation.
5. The results of salvation.

Here is that path (compiled at http://christianity.about.com/od/conversion/qt/romansroad.htm in article ‘What Is Romans Road?’ by Mary Fairchild, Christianity Expert):

“1. Everyone needs salvation because we have all sinned.

Romans 3:10-12, and 23
As the Scriptures say, “No one is righteous—not even one. No one is truly wise; no one is seeking God. All have turned away; all have become useless. No one does good, not a single one.” … For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. (NLT)

2. The price (or consequence) of sin is death.

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. (NLT)

3. Jesus Christ died for our sins. He paid the price for our death.

Romans 5:8
But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. (NLT)

4. We receive salvation and eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ.

Romans 10:9-10, and 13
If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved … For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (NLT)

5. Salvation through Jesus Christ brings us into a relationship of peace with God.

Romans 5:1
Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. (NLT)

Romans 8:1
So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. (NLT)

Romans 8:38-39
And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. (NLT)

Responding to Romans Road

If you believe Romans Road leads to the path of truth, you can respond by receiving God’s free gift of salvation today. Here’s how to take a personal journey down Romans Road:

1. Admit you are a sinner.
2. Understand that as a sinner, you deserve death.
3. Believe Jesus Christ died on the cross to save you from sin and death.
4. Repent by turning from your old life of sin to a new life in Christ.
5. Receive, through faith in Jesus Christ, his free gift of salvation.”

I trust this article clearly shows you that “Religion” as defined by man is a fallacy and you do not need it to find the truth and eternity with God after you pass from this earthly life in death.

I hope it helps you cut through the ritual and deviation that mankind has put on the simple truth that reaching eternity can only be accomplished through Jesus Christ, not any manmade obstacles, requirements or demands.
