Can, Will Or Do

© By Brad L Hodges

“If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.” Mark 9:23

I have never doubted that God can do anything. After all, He is the God of the universe and nothing is impossible for Him.

I have, however, questioned many times if God will do something and stood in wonder and amazement when he does choose to do something.

Everything is possible, as Jesus said, “for one who believes,” and I truly believe this.

I sound like a broken record, if you have read any other of my writing, when I say that the God of the universe sees the infinite beginning and the infinite end of everything, but I love this fact and it continuously provides me comfort.

Why is this so precious to me? Because it is the caveat between can, will or do, the wild card factor strictly from a human standpoint, but utterly in harmony and accordance with God’s Master Plan for the world at large and our own lives specifically.

God always can but He will only do if it fits fully within His perfect plan. As long as one can accept this as a believer it opens up the door to eternal freedom simply because it places everything that happens to a believer into the perspective of what is best for us according to His purpose for our individual lives.

Romans 8:28
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

By accepting the fact God knows the end result of everything and that He is fully in control, one can understand if God chooses not to do something, even if we think it would be the best course of action for us or someone else.

From our limited human perspective this can appear, and even be, catastrophic if the situation involves our health, our life or our safety, but accepting the fact that God sees every possible action, reaction and connection to a situation not only in the present, future and past but even the infinite variations a situation could take that may never take place, is utterly liberating.

In other words God sees in a flash how everything is connected together in their infinite possibilities and He acts or allows to occur what is according to how it fits into His Master Plan. If you try to comprehend this, especially from the perspective of the moment or some other restricted timeline of man it will blow your mind.

These truths provide a benchmark for living, a map for our travel through life. Put together in a guide in an attempt to simplify the mind-blowing reality it may look like this:

1. God can do anything.

2. God will act or allow to occur if it fits into His Master Plan for our lives.

3. God will do what is truly best for us in the context of His complete love for us.

Everything is possible for one who believes that God’s plan is perfect in all it’s possibilities.
